OnStream DI30 15/30Gb Internal IDE tape drive OK with SuSE ?
Anyone successfully using the OnStream DI30 15/30Gb Internal IDE tape drive successfully with Linux. I'm currently using SuSE 6.4 with 2.2.14 kernel and intend to use afio for my backups. I could upgrade to a newer SuSE if necessary. Cheers, Sean.

IIRC, I needed Andre Hedrick's IDE patches to make it work. If you're using the SuSE kernel these should already be applied. Ciao, Stefan -- Stefan Troeger o _ _ _ stefan@troeger.st __o __o /\_ _ \\o (_)\__/o (_) _`\<, _`\<, _>(_) (_)/<_ \_| \ _|/' \/ (_)/(_) (_)/(_) (_) (_) (_) (_)' _\o_
Hi, I'm using a D130. There was a patch you could get for some of the earlier versions of the 2.2 kernel, but I don't know if there's one for 2.2.14. I was running SuSE 6.3 and couldn't use the D130, but have since upgraded to 7.0 where support for the D130 is part of the standard kernel. The only thing you need to know is that you [must] use a 32k record size (64 x 512 byte blocks). It'll just spit errors back at you if you don't :) Other than that there are no problems .. it runs just fine. Hint: I was a bit nervous about upgrading without a backup, so I shutdown the PC, booted the rescue CD off the SuSE 7.0 distribution, then mounted my hard drive partitions and did the backup from there before proceeding with the install. You might want to do the same :) Mail me if you need to.
