Hi - Has anyone out used the Java 2 SDK from Sun on Linux? How do the efforts of the Blackdown Group differ from what Sun is putting out there? Any insight would be helpful... Yes, both the Blackdown and the Sun (which is Blackdown-derived) 1.2.2 JVMs work fine here, on my SuSE 6.3 and 6.4 systems. Things to note: The Blackdown one is capable of native threading now. The Sun one should be kept to green threads for the time being. Both can run the Inprise javacomp JIT compiler, which helps. Both basically work just fine. However, take a look at the new IBM pre-release of JDK 1.3.0 for Linux. I've also got this running on both my 6.3 and 6.4 systems, and it's working well enough that I've made it my default JVM. NB: It's *fast*. -- Rachel -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
Speaking about java.. has anyone gotten a release version of >= 1.2 to use latin2 fonts, I can only seem to make it use one latin2 font, everything else is just latin 1 no matter what I do... :(( * On 08-05-00 at 13:24 Rachel Greenham (rachel.greenham@enetgroup.co.uk) wrote: +----Here quoted text begins----+
