[opensuse] Curious problem with Chromium on 12.3
Recently, I've started having a problem with Chromium on my notebook computer. When I try to go to GMail or Google+, the the app shows an error: "Aw, Snap Something went wrong while displaying this webpage To continue, reload or go to another page." This happens only on my Thinkpad E520 with openSUSE 12.3 My desktop computer, also 12.3 has no problem, nor does the E520 when running Windows 7. I can access those pages with Firefox on the E520 with 12.3. At the moment, I have no extensions enabled. Other sites work fine. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chromium. Any ideas? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

This happened to me recently as well. Check chromium-ffmpg... I'll bet you have a version mismatch between that package and the rest of Chromium. The major version should be the same (lower point/build numbers can differ but the major version has to match). Guessing... an update happened on Chromium, pulling it up ot a higher release, but chromium-ffmpg was missed. Actually, I spotted that yesterday and upgraded. The major number went from 25 to 29, but chromium is at 27. My desktop system, where it still works fine shows that package with the update available and is still at 25. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I've seen this behaviour, but not often and intermittently, with some Chromium builds. Bear in mind our Chromium is built from branches and versions that are ahead of and less stable than Chrome stable release. You could try a newer build from the network:chromium repo, usually an upgrade to a newer build fixes the "aw, snap" tab crashes. That did it. It's curious though, that my desktop works fine with the old files, but my notebook doesn't. tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
