Hello! I am still using Applixware 5.0 under RHL 7.2 and even though it is now defunct I still find it my favorite suite. Since Applixware was first offered with SuSe and 5.0 was reported to work with SuSe 6.x, I am hoping I can install it on an 8.2 system and it will work. Anyone out there have Applixware 5.0 running under SuSe 8.2? Thanks! -Michael -- A billion seconds ago Harry Truman was president. A billion minutes ago was just after the time of Christ. A billion hours ago man had not yet walked on earth. A billion dollars ago was late yesterday afternoon at the U.S. Treasury.
Hi, I used to have Applixware 5.0 on SuSE 6.x, 7.x and 8.0, but I dropped it due to its obsolence and switched to OO. I don't see any problems why you can't run it on SuSE 8.2. Alex -------------------

As to Applixware's obsolescence: It still handles Word Perfect files better than other apps, and is a better quick viewer of Windows documents than is abiword. On Thu, 2003-05-08 at 10:37, Alex Daniloff wrote:

My wife on SuSE 8.1. I had to jump thru hoops to get it installed, but it seems to be servicable. I wouldn't use it, but I like text editors, came up on cpm ver of WordStar. -- Patrick Shanahan Please avoid TOFU and trim >quotes< http://wahoo.no-ip.org Registered Linux User #207535 icq#173753138 @ http://counter.li.org Linux, a continuous *learning* experience

While all on Windows, about half of my client's desktops are WordPerfect (basically all the laywers and insurance companies) and my wife still relies on it for forms design and other things Word is still lacking at. -- John LeMay KC2KTH Senior Enterprise Consultant NJMC | http://www.njmc.com | Phone 732-557-4848 Specializing in Microsoft and Unix based solutions

[stuff deleted] Word Perfect is shipping on several vendors platforms as the standard right now. Dell is shipping it and that covers quite a few people in the world today since they are like the largest PC supplier. It seems like some others are also shipping it as standard. Of course, it is only a Microsoft based program now so that makes it useless for a goodly number of us also. And to think I bought a copy of it for Linux a few years ago to support them as they tried to overcome the evil empire. I also purchased Applix. At least OOo can't go out of business :-) -- Kelly L. I get many documents written with WordPerfect for Windows, and must read them on my Linux machine. Lawyers, law school and other faculty, and even some merchants use WordPerfect for Windows. That's one of the reasons I find Applixware so useful. dj tuchler

It also has features that no other spreadsheet has. Features that I will miss when I can no longer keep Applixware running... :( -Michael -- A billion seconds ago Harry Truman was president.
