[opensuse] New install of 11.3/kde --two puzzles
Besides the fact that the installation seems to have corrupted GRUB, this new install seems to be performing properly. There are two functions with what I think are gaps in my understanding: 1) When a USB stick is inserted, I can see its icon in the Konqueror file browser. Whereas in older versions, clicking on this icon caused this icon to open a window revealing the contents, this one shows me a message saying: "There is no application installed that can open files on the block device (inode/block device). Do you want to try to install one?" What must I do to get it to open an icon view of the stick. 2) I have copied the content of a v11.2 install's Network Settings in order to set up communications. I ping the router and other devices on the local net, but not even IP addresses outside. I have gone over the comparison several times and don't find anything lacking or different. It sounds like it's not picking nameservers for a reason. Look in /etc/resolv.conf. Also make sure it set the router as a gateway. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Run the Device Notifier widget in the tray. -- _____________________________________ At one time I had a Real Sig. Its been downsized. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Run the Device Notifier widget in the tray. I would have responded to this myself, but every install I did that wad
