No problem :)
For the past two weeks I have been trying to get xwindow to run on my machine. It is a 233 MHz notebook witht the NeoMagic MagicGraph 128XD Video Card. There was a problem with the resolution being only in 320X480 or the lowest one possible, whatever that may be. I was messing with the xfconfig/setup in YaST. Somehow I managed to mess it up even more and now it will not run at all. When I type startx at the command line I get a message to the effect,
X Server binary missing or corrupted. / and repair or install a new one x???_???? error exiting
and that is all it does. It this is not enough information for someone to diagnose the problem PLEASE ask me and I will provide with whatever you want me to. Thanks a lot,
The Neomagic Chipset needs a special X-Server. Get it from here: <A HREF="ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse_update/X/XBF/xneomag/xneomag.rpm"><A HREF="ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse_update/X/XBF/xneomag/xneomag.rpm</A">ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse_update/X/XBF/xneomag/xneomag.rpm</A</A>> Do the following steps: rpm -Uh xneomag.rpm ln -s /usr/X11R6/bin/XBF_NeoMagic /var/X11R6/bin/X cp /usr/doc/packages/xneomag/XF86Config.neomagic /etc/XF86Config Have a look at the configuration file and enjoy!
