Using Suse 7.0 with a HP CD-Writer+ 9100. It works fine as a standard CD, can read files and play audio just by clicking on the desktop icon. Cdrecord doesn't see it so I then proceeded trying to get it recognized. As you can see below I added the following line to lilo (using yast), then a line to file boot.local. Now when I run cdrecord -scanbus it appears and shows in my boot log below. By the messages I thought all went well. Now I click on my CD desktop icon I get can't mount drive with a standard CD or audio CD. What did I miss or do wrong? ----------------------------------------------- Added the following line in lilo append="hdc=ide-scsi" ------------------------------------------------ /sbin/init.d/boot.local insmod parport insmod imm /sbin/modprobe ide-scsi -------------------------------------------------- bash-2.04# cdrecord -scanbus Cdrecord 1.8.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2000 Jörg Schilling Using libscg version 'schily-0.1' scsibus0: 0,0,0 0) * 0,1,0 1) * 0,2,0 2) * 0,3,0 3) * 0,4,0 4) * 0,5,0 5) * 0,6,0 6) 'IOMEGA ' 'ZIP 100 ' 'J.67' Removable Disk 0,7,0 7) * scsibus1: 1,0,0 100) 'HP ' 'CD-Writer+ 9100 ' '1.0c' Removable CD-ROM 1,1,0 101) * 1,2,0 102) * 1,3,0 103) * 1,4,0 104) * 1,5,0 105) * 1,6,0 106) * 1,7,0 107) * bash-2.04# --------------------------------------------------------- Boot messages show <4>scsi1 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices <4>scsi : 2 hosts. <4> Vendor: HP Model: CD-Writer+ 9100 Rev: 1.0c <4> Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02 <4>Detected scsi CD-ROM sr0 at scsi1, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 <4>sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 32x/32x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray <6>Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.11 -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
