[opensuse] 12.1 Yast CA Management broken
Hi Yast CA management module is broken in both 32 and 64 bit versions of 12.1 I've filed a buzilla under 'other' as there is no section for 12.1 bugs as of an hour or so ago. The error is: Error while creating client module ca_mgm Meanwhile, can anyone recommend a tool where I can create a CA certificate to sign a servercert and key to use with the ldap module? I need to be able to specify the CN of the cert. Thanks L x -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

bad news indeed! Regarding an alternative, you can use (in chronological order of complexity and functionality) a) openssl commandline b) easyrsa (rather simple cli tool, part of openvpn) c) tinyca d) openxpki (OBS: home:/computersalat:/OpenXPKI/) e) ejbca If just for a single certificate, openssl should be enough hw -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

OK I'll go with openssl. If anyone has time (yeah, I know. . .) do you think this would work with 12.1: http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/ch-ldap-tls.html looks like the /etc/openldap for copying the certificates to folders are correct at least. Looks OK. The basic fundamentals are there. The openssl command line has all the options to create a certificate if that is your final objective. Search keywords "creating certs with openssl" (Google) will give you a couple of links from openssl website with instructions for certs. Basically, I need it for the Yast LDAP Server TLS dialogue and need to know where to point it for the CA cert, the servercert and the serverkey. I think that this is what the link shows. Yes, the product is 12.1, so correct. The OS field you set to "other", as 12.1 does not exist yet (no idea why not). :-) - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. I know, I reported it. I don't know why it takes so much time to correct it, just add a name to a list - but then I don't know how difficult it is to do such things to the bugzilla system, maybe it needs a reboot and that needs to be scheduled. Please include the bug ID for reference if you talk about a report. If you report it _only_ to this list, by phone, to your dog, or wife I have to stress that it is important to use the defined bug reporting interface. "I can't file this bug as the OS 12.1 is missing" is the answer I expect anyhow. ;) Thanks. Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

Cause if the bug ID is available from the list archive it allows other to follow the issue too. There are curious people out there and some are willing to drive bugs forward. This is nothing more than a polite suggestion to make colaboration easier if not possible at all.
Anyway:

See, someone asked Coolo how to process this issue further. This would not have been possible without the bug ID. Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

If anybody is curious, then they ask. Otherwise I have to look in my long list of bugzillas to find the one, which takes some time :-p (postponing the email, switching folders, searching on text field, selecting text, going back to original folder, continuing with previous post, paste the text).

I know, saw it, thanks. But it should not be necessary if the bugzilla system worked better. Many bugs take weeks, even months, till someone passes by and says something. For 97.8734% of the issue it's possible to check with the osc tool who is the bug owner. For those willing to share the workload. Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany
