Dear SuSE: I sincerely hope that one day you will lighten up on the PR. You should let your users beta test ISOs /before/ you set a date or make decisions like a major version number change. <nag> There's a bigger difference between 7..0 and 7.1 then there is between 6.4 and 7.0. Please don't ever forget that. </nag> I wasn't even done making my feature requests... too bad for me. I just started a new list yesterday. http://linuxtoday.com/news_story.php3?ltsn=2001-05-29-009-20-PR-SS ---------------------------------------------------- Jonathan Wilson System Administrator Cedar Creek Software http://www.cedarcreeksoftware.com Central Texas IT http://www.centraltexasit.com

Ok..we are not gonna start this again. go get 7.1 right here.. ftp://ftp.suse.com:0/pub/suse/i386/japanese-7.1/ ncftp ...suse/i386/japanese-7.1 > ls ./ suse-prof-ja-CD3-20010418.iso ../ suse-prof-ja-CD4-20010418.iso MD5SUMS suse-prof-ja-CD5-20010418.iso suse-prof-ja-CD1-20010418.iso suse-prof-ja-CD6-20010418.iso suse-prof-ja-CD2-20010418.iso suse-prof-ja-CD7-20010418.iso ncftp ...suse/i386/japanese-7.1 > I just tapped the keg..here's the beer. Oh, Ben, this is just beautiful. Could it possibly be that you've stumbled upon the magic formula to quell the "free beer or nothing" element that seems to rear its ugly head every few weeks ? On the down side, I'm a bit miffed about the new version. I read somewhere on this list last week (admittedly not from a known reliable source) that 7.2 wouldn't be out for months. So I decided to bite the bullet and buy 7.1 Pro last Wednesday. Doh ! Oh, well, maybe I can justify the new version to the boss when it comes out. If not, I just might buy it out of my own pocket. Money and value are two very different things. Of course I preferred getting the full version for $30 back in the good old days (was it only last year ?) but buying the distro helps keep it available by funding development. Is that so wroooong ? Bye for now, Stuart. -----Original Message----- From: suse-linux-e-return-59050-stuart=yorkshirepudding.com@lists.suse.com [mailto:suse-linux-e-return-59050-stuart=yorkshirepudding.com@lists.suse .com]On Behalf Of Ben Rosenberg Sent: Tuesday, May 29, 2001 2:42 PM To: SLE Subject: Re: [SLE] [NEWS] LinuxPR: SuSE 7.2 Release Date Set Ok..we are not gonna start this again. go get 7.1 right here.. ftp://ftp.suse.com:0/pub/suse/i386/japanese-7.1/ ncftp ...suse/i386/japanese-7.1 > ls ./ suse-prof-ja-CD3-20010418.iso ../ suse-prof-ja-CD4-20010418.iso MD5SUMS suse-prof-ja-CD5-20010418.iso suse-prof-ja-CD1-20010418.iso suse-prof-ja-CD6-20010418.iso suse-prof-ja-CD2-20010418.iso suse-prof-ja-CD7-20010418.iso ncftp ...suse/i386/japanese-7.1 > I just tapped the keg..here's the beer. Stuart, et All,
As one who likes SuSE I'll jump on my box.
I waited this time from my usual scenario:
Dump everything important with xcdroast to a cd-rom,
delete the existing install and throw the new one on.
This was due to time as I had an intense travel schedule
and I have a gorgeous/wise wife and 5 wonderful kids.
Now it has been the forecasted time span between distro releases
and I have suffered through the usual ...."wish I had the latest".
7.1 has been out long enough for me, and I'm most happy to see the new
forcasted. I heard from a reliable source it would be out soon :)

Being a student, I can't afford to buy SuSE at every release, but with the new things in 7.2, I think I may be able to stretch the budget a little bit :-)))))) SuSE - However you may be pronounced [ ;o) ] - keep up the wonderful work. Keep on going as you are and you will have a loyal customer for years to come <grins> --

Ya, I know the "I aint got no money 'cause I'm in school" thing. But consider this. How much does a games cost. How much does SuSE personal addition cost. Most new games cost between $40.00 to $50.00 bucks. SuSE personal cost me $30.00 bucks. Not a bad deal! Hehehe - I don't play games <smiles> I certainly wouldn't think about spending that much on a game - more into the server side of things myself. I know it isn't a bad deal, and I agree with you all the way - they are a geat distribution and I am sticking with them - just sorry I can't afford all the updates <smiles>
Take care, Jon
