Hi people, I have problems enabling xdmcp listener on my SuSE 8.2 server. I edited /opt/kde3/share/kdm/kdmrc file so that : [xdmcp] Enable=true Port=177 But still after restarting, it doesn`t listen to xdmcp requests. I succeed that way with other distros, so there must be something specific to take into account with SuSE? Thanks for your help, Best regards, Steve Hemond Programmeur / Programmer Smurfit-Stone, Ressources Forestières La Tuque, P.Q. Phone : (819) 676-8100 X2833 Mail : shemond@smurfit.com
Steve, SuSE maintains a configuration file located at /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager that needs the DISPLAYMANGER_REMOTE_ACCESS variable set to "yes" to enable listening to XDMCP request. Try setting your prefered display manager using the DISPLAYMANAGER variable and enable remote access as described above. This worked fine for me. Good luck! Steve. Steve, Try the following: 1. In /etc/X11/Xaccess: - Uncomment the following line: #* #any host can get a login window - it will change to: * #any host can get a login window 2. In /etc/X11/xdm/xdm-config - Comment the following line: DisplayManager.requestPort: 0 - it will change to the following: ! DisplayManager.requestPort: 0 Regards Rudolf
