Is there a way to do pre-loading with gdm instead of kdm, or is the preloading all based around kdm? -Cameron

If you mean preloading for applications, then it is not dependent on kdm or gdm, but if you use KDE or not. Preloading for applications is done with an entry in /opt/kde3/share/autostart, so it is KDE-specific. However, there is a small hack you can do which I describe at [1] in section 5 to make it work with all WMs. It's really easy. Maybe this will be the way it is done in 10.1.
