nothing provides libtiff.so.4 needed by libsane-1.0.19-2.i386
Tried the symbolic link to libtiff.so.3 and still no go.
Now what ?
google or a lot more information....
Sorry. Running 11.3, trying to use Mustek A3 SP 1200 scanner.
Found driver libsane.1.0.19.2 for deb / used alien to convert to rpm / tried to install and got above message.
Googled and from the reference to try the symbolic link - which didn't work.
Should I try to install with --nodeps ?
I would say that "--nodeps" is a baaaadddd idea, but???
rpm -iv --nodeps libsane-1.0.19-2.i386.rpm

BUT, I need both installed, how do I do this ?
to my limited knowledge, you cannot!
So I can use 1.0.19 with old scanner and 1.0.21 with new scanner ?
Is this a question? Are you trying to use both version, and, if so, why?
?? old scanner... new scanner... ?? You only mentioned one scanner. Did
you research that scanner for linux compatibility BEFORE you purchased it?
Knowing and realizing the limited drivers available for proprietary
devices, when spending money for hardware always determine compatibility
BEFORE outlay of hard-earned-... Using linux for 11 years would firmly
ingrain this in one, else I have some off-shore property I can let go for
a very small sum.
ps: WHY are you going off-list for help?
The old scanner does 11 x 17 for some very old song books and documents that I have. Up until now, I was using it on
Windoze, however, if I could get it to work on Linux - the better I'll feel.
The new scanner (all-in-one) is my production one.
Ohhhhhh, a thought just hit me - since I already have VBox installed, I could setup a trimmed down version of Linux just
to run the old scanner.
P.S. I could have sworn I saw, somewhere, a way to be able to do something like this side-by-side - in real time.
