[opensuse] Where's libXm.so.3?
Hi all, I'm trying to install the Citrix client on my box (OpenSuSe 10.2, x86_64) and have a problem. The Citrix docs say it requires OpenMotif2.2 or better. I've installed several (perhaps that's part of the problem?) and now have: openmotif-libs-32bit-2.3.0beta2-32 openmotif-2.3.0beta2-32 openmotif-libs-2.3.0beta2-32 all reported by an rpm query. However, when I try to install this thing the rpm installer claims: Unresolved dependencies: Installing ICAClient-9.0-1.i386[Local packages] There are no installable providers of libXm.so.3 for ICAClient-9.0-1.i386[Local packages] How do I know where to get libXm.so.3 (I'm assuming that it's not in the openmotif package after all?) How do I know where to get libXm.so.3 (I'm assuming that it's not in the openmotif package after all?)
pin reports libXm.so.3 exists in openmotif-devel and openmotif-libs I would use the x86_64 packages, not the i586 or -32bit packages. And they all exist on your installation dvd. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 OpenSUSE Linux http://en.opensuse.org/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Patrick. I don't understand what happened with my 10.2 install. I always just select everything (disk space not being an issue any more) but it seems that this time a whole bunch of stuff didn't make it. This is not the first time I've had stuff missing that turned out to be on the DVD. Also, pin is new to me. I'll go read the manual page for it... Hmm, well, I still have trouble I'm afraid. I have openmotif-libs (according to yast, at any rate) but there's no libXm.so.3 (did a find from root, as root). There is no openmotif-devel on my distribution CD (OpenSuSE 10.2) I used rpmseek to find a version of openmotif-devel, and when I try to install it, it says: Unresolved dependencies: Installing openmotif-devel-2.2.4-21.x86_64[Local packages] There are no installable providers of libXm.so.3()(64bit) for openmotif-devel-2.2.4-21.x86_64[Local packages] Which, obviously, gets me back to the square-one :( Any other thoughts? (Has there, perhaps been a updated release of the CD? Mine was burned within days of the release of 10.2, and I have to say I've had a lot of trouble with this release, far more than any previous one, which makes me suspicious--but yes, the MD5 checksum was good) TIA, Simon "You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers. Aha, I'm making progress. This didn't work, but at least I know why. The Citrix binaries are only available in 32 bit form, so the 64bit libraries that I have (even after linking to pretend I have version 3) aren't usable. I now get: /usr/lib/ICAClient/wfcmgr.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libXm.so.3: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64 So, I guess I have to install the 32 bit versions of these, possibly fudging the version number. I'll go try that. Thanks, Simon "You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers. You can tell whether a man is wise by his questions." Well, I reinstalled the 32 bit libraries which also provide libXm.so.4, did the linking trick to fake it as .3 and the client now starts up. Hopefully it'll run smoothly too, time will tell. Many thanks all for several useful suggestions that led the way. Cheers, Simon "You can tell whether a man is clever by his answers. You can tell whether a man is wise by his questions." Simon, I ran into that problem too. I searched on libXm.so.3 and downloaded and installed 3 rpm's for SUSE ( I'm at work so I can't tell you exactly which rpm's I got - home PC ). One of the files was for 32 bit, one for 64 bit and the other for i586 ( I think ). Don't know which one solved the problem. i installed all 3 and the ICAClient works. Hope this gets you in the right direction. If you need more info, tonight I can get the exact file names for you.
