You are right, the module tg3 is loaded for this NIC.
Give it try for your wireless (in konsole) # modprobe -r iwl3945 # modprobe iwl3945 as root, see what happen.
I did the above, but in both cases, no output was generated. So the command was properly executed, I guess, but nothing else happened. Also, I still don't see any change with KNetworkmanager.
