Are there actually any 3D apps out there that are not games or 3D modeling apps? I have a graphics card that does better than 2400 fps, and nothing to run on it! I don't play games - I find nothing worth playing under linux (Janes ATF would be nice) - so what does that leave? Are there any 3D file managers, or 3D anything? A search over at Source Forge reveled lots of 3D modelrs and games. Nothing else.

Tribes 2 from Loki. But I run it in windows as I have heard that it is sketchy in Linux. It is sketchy enough in windows. There are a couple of 3d linux sites out there. www.3dlinux.org used to be one, but I checked on them recently, and they are undergoing repairs. http://sal.kachinatech.com/ are linux scientific apps. You will find modelers, etc.

Not sure what you mean by "sketchy". There's three of us running it here on Linux/nVIDIA and it works superbly. It's absolutely fantastic! Tricky situation when 3 people are addicted to a game and the boss has twice caught them all playing it... :-}

Well I might try it. Right now the only reason I have been booting into Win98 is to play this game. I have my GeForce3 working great in Linux so it would just be a matter of ordering the game. Are there lack of any features? I know that Sierra recently released a patch, does Loki keep up? Thanks.

Um, I've never played the Windows game (or any Windows game for that matter) so I wouldn't know if something was missing! I seem to remember seeing something somewhere saying that the microphone didn't work under Linux as yet, but I think that was all. I haven't tried anything microphoneish (I'm a real newbie at T2!) so I can't confirm that. Check out Loki's website, or ask their support people. And yes, a patch was put out recently for the Linux version.

Excellent. I have just ordered it, and will give a try. I am fairly new to T2 as well, but it is extremely addictive. Have you tried any scripts with it yet. I wonder if the compiled scripts are compatible? If you are not sure what I am talking about go to: http://www.tribalwar.com/sitecore/links.php And look for tribes scripting. There are client and server mods. Client mods can always be run, whereas server mods need support from the server to work. The scripts simplify some things. I suggest the Panama Jack suite of scripts.

The one and only issue I've ever had running T2 in Linux is the game voice. It will run the mike record function no problem. But most servers aren't setup for it. I do understand the RogerWilco has a server package, I just don't know it will enable me to use it as a client on my own machine. I will be teaking on it for the next couple weeks to see how it does. If I get it to work I will post it and let all interested know what I did. Cheers, Curtis On Friday 05 October 2001 09:10, Jesse Marlin wrote:
