Very nice to tell us. Is it possible for you to tell us which release of openSUSE you're using, which version of LibreOfiice and where you installed it from? BTW, "zypper dup" ist quite good in bringing together an unstable system. Use "zypper up", it will at least pull the packages from the same repos every time.
- as a temp work-around have installed Apache OpenOffice4 : it opens files ok :)
Extremely helpful information, thank you. -- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

He is using TW --> tumbleweed, which makes the question off-topic here. He has to ask on the factory mail list. "Zypper dup" is the documented and recommended daily update method in tumbleweed. Other methods are not supported. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)

Yes, sorry, I did not not read "[TW]" as "I'm using Tumbleweed". And "zypper dup" is recommended only if you have von other repos enabled (as abbreviation for "zypper dup -r Tumbleweed"). And I do not find an abbreviation for "no repos other that TW in use" in his mail. Hm, just did a "zypper patch" on my TW laptop, it pulled all the LO packages. After that, I updated the rest of my packages, an LO is still running, it opens all files I feed to it. No crash till now. From the variety of infos provided by the OP I can only guess a) bad luck, try again tomorrow b) repos other than openSUSE distro and Tumbleweed in use Sorry. -- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

No, for Tumbleweed Greg KH advises *only* using "dup" and only using openSUSE Current OSS openSUSE Current non-OSS openSUSE Current updates

And Greg KH specifically advises *not* to use "patch" for Tumbleweed! fwiw, my Tw has no problem with libreoffice file opening. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

True. I'm also getting crash after update (Non Tumblewood - see signature). But my crash is when I do a "Save" or "SAVE AS" from the file menu.
I just downloaded the new LibreOffice release from TDF site. I'll install it to see if it crashes. Will post more later. -- openSUSE 13.1(Linux 3.11.10-7-desktop x86_64| Intel(R) Quad Core(TM) i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10GHz|8GB DDR3| GeForce 8400GS (NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-331.49)|KDE 4.12.3 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

No other repos being used.
You might try: zypper in --force libreoffice will reinstall libreoffice from the repo that it was last installed, which would be: zypper se -si libreoffice or to reinstall all libreoffice packages: zypper in --force `rpm -qa *libreoffice*` likewise: zypper se -si `rpm -qa *libreoffice*` those are back-ticks, not single quotes. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Patrick : many thanks - i did remove ALL libreoffice : & next re-installed, adding modules, piece-by-piece - it transpires that *libreoffice-gnome* is the cause of the crash. ............. regards -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
