Though one: Two X sessions
Situation: Two machines, both running SuSE 8.0 One of them headless/keyboardless/mouseless, other, the full monty. Target: To get two sessions (ctrl-alt-F7, and ctrl-alt-F8) of X running. One of them (F7) loging on to the local X-session, the other to the other machine. Both sessions should show login screens, one for each machine. Preferrably standard from runlevel 5. Anyone any ideas? Thanks GJR

For the headless box: There's a SuSEconfig option to allow remote queries to KDM. I don't have 8.0 yet (I'm Canadian...) so I'm not sure where it is, but it was answered either today or yesteday on this very list. For the box with the KVM: Run this command wherever you need to (boot.local maybe): X :1 -query <hostname> & That's it. If you want another one, run the above command using :2, :3, :4, etc. Myself, I simply make desktop icons for various machines and run them when I need them. Hi all, And is there a way to make your remote sessions a choice in the KDM startup screen instead of creating icons...??? Pep.

maybe not in kdm, but it can be done with xdm. It might be even quicker to disable kdm and insert (insserv) a script that does something like X :0 -broadcast (or was it X :0 -indirect) (or follow the below example and change it to do X :1 -broadcast (or -indirect) this will start an Xserver and have it ask all other machines whether they allow remote desktops ....

If you mean make it a choice on the kdm screen to log into a remote server, like it is in dtlogin, then no, it's not possible at the moment. However, the code for it is in the kdm sources, but it's removed for some reason. I suggest you post the question to the KDE developers. They removed it, and I'm sure they had some reason for it.
