Setting up RAID for a Linux newbie
Hi, I just installed SuSE 9.0 on my Dell 410 workstation. The workstation has an AAA-131U2 Array 1000 RAID Controller and an AIC-7880 P Ultra/Ultra Wide SCSI CHipset. SuSE reports in the YaST Disk Controller that it recognizes these hardware devices and that it has successfully loaded the module aic 7xxx. Does this indicate that 9.0 can use my hardware and I can setup a Raid on my computer? Right now my installation of SuSE only seems to use the first scsi drive but it does see the other hard drives but they need to be formatted and partioned and raid setup. How do I do this? I am brand new to Linux and so far have only succeeded in having to start over from scratch with lower level reformates of the hard drives and reloading of the SuSE Linux OS. Any help would be appreciated. Does the RAID configuration have to start with the first hard drive in the chain? If so then how do I deal with reformating the first drive fro raid?
