Hi All, I just joined this group and been reading numerous entries in this and other groups regarding wireless network cards for Linux. It seems that many folks are struggling to get them configured and working. I just purchased a Linksys WPC11 card after calling Linksys and receiving confirmation that they thought it would work. When it didn't work I did some more reading and learned that I had purchased a v.4 card which has a Realtek chipset which isn't going to be plug-n-play. Can anyone recommend a pcmcia wireless card that will just work after I insert it, or work with a minimum of fuss? thanks, Larry

I can vouch for the Lucent Orinoco WiFi card. Personally, I would recommend saving a few dollars and buying the Orinoco Silver card as the only difference between the Silver and Gold (as far as my research told me when I looked into it several months ago) is that the Gold has the ability to use a proprietary 128-bit WEP system that only Orinoco Gold equipment can utilize properly...which, AFAIK, isn't usable in Linux... I'm very happy with my Lucent Orinoco Silver card. --Jeff Moody

I have a Linksys WPC11 Version 3 which works great. It installed in 8.2 with a minimal amount of fuss - though I have yet to figure out a couple of things, it is fast and excellent.
