[opensuse] Rescue MySQL - Disaster Recovery -
Hi all, An openSUSE 11.1 installation with MySQL hosting a Wikipedia was lost due to a hard disk failure. Only the OS seems to have been effected. I need to recover the MySQL database to a new machine, using the old HD's data, which I managed to recover to a new disk. Has anyone done this before? Any suggestions to some material for such disaster recovery will be very welcome, or can someone help in this list? If it is the same version, you could try copying the entire /var/lib/mysql directory. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Yes, I kept all the same - even the password are the same. I'll copy the /var/lib/mysql tomorrow and check it. Thanks for the info. Al -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ah, ok. Then don't forget /etc/my.cnf and /etc/mysqlaccess.conf, you might need them, too. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
