[opensuse] iPrint client
I am trying to add a Novell iPrint server managed printer to SUSE 10.0. I have installed the iPrint client RPM (novell-iprint-xclient-sl-1.0.20051215-2, which is the version offered by the web page managing the printers). I am trying with this command: # /opt/novell/iprint/bin/iprntcmd -a ipp://mma/ipp/MMA-HP4300-1 iprntcmd v04.15.00 Adding printer ipp://mma/ipp/MMA-HP4300-1. Failed to add printer ipp://mma/ipp/MMA-HP4300-1. Group Info: IPRINT-lib Error Code: 4111 (0x100F) Error Msg: iPrint Lib - The administrator may not have assigned a driver or the server may not support printer/driver installation for this platform. Debug Msg: IPRINTDownloadPrinterDriver - driver download not supported by the server I can guess that the problem is that the iPrint server does not have the needed Linux drivers. When I talk to the sysadmins (who do not do Linux), what files should I be asking them to make available? Would it be .ppd files? Assuming this is the case, and that I do not get them to install the missing files, can't I use a local .ppd file? If it must come from the server, where can I tell them to get the missing Linux drivers? This (iPrint) is all new to me. -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems / Ramböll RST Ramböll Sverige AB Kapellgränd 7 P.O. Roger, You would probably be much better off asking this in the iPrint forum over at http://support.novell.com/forums/ In short, they need to install a .ppd driver for the printer. The whole point of iPrint is that it will allow you to use maps to find your printer, and that the driver will be downloaded automatically. Otherwise you might as well just add an ipp printer yourself. Cheers, Magnus On Mon, 2007-03-05 at 15:24 +0100, Roger Oberholtzer wrote:
