Hello Thorsten Thanks for your fast reply!
I'm having some trouble with them... First, they're not being distributed by the nis server,
Do you have adjust /var/yp/Makefile to build netgroups ? netgroups are disabled by default. And you need to edit /etc/nsswitch.conf on the client.
What do I heve to change to the Makefile? I edited /etc/nsswitch to point to NIS
secondly, the local groups should go in other groups, how can this be done? (like @family should go in @guestusers)...
Do you mean you have a local netgroup file and a NIS version ?
No, when my NIS server holds a map for this, I won't use the local files. I just want to define a groups like family and frieds, and then put them in another group like guestusers. I tried it like this: friends (,ruben,) (,patrick,) guestusers (,friends,) It didn't work, I also changed it to: friends (,ruben,) (,patrick,) guestusers (,@friends,) Am I doing something wrong here?

Read all comments in the Makefile and change the all: rule.
