Now that you've all worked so hard getting WindowMaker-0.19.1 installed, 0.19.2 is out. Yes...I reloaded SuSE on my home PC and 0.19.2 works fine on it. Thanks -Dee - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
With my usual cunning I installed WindowMaker-0.19.1 last night (probably about the same time 0.19.2 was going to the ftp). I'll probably stick with 1 for today, but I'm another satisfied customer. It compiled and installed flawlessly on my S.u.S.E. 5 box and seems fast and easy to configure in comparison to fvwm2. The simple from-the-box configuration I'm using is clean and attractive. Alas, still no S.u.S.E. 5.3. phil -- Think Differently: LINUX Michael Lankton wrote:

What has changed in 0.19.2? are there any nasty bugs in 0.19.1 that have been fixed? or can I stay with 0.19.1 for a while at least? I downloaded 0.19.1 on Sunday, and I think it looks really good and the speed is amazing. The config utility looks extremely promising too. -- Regards Jo - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

Be careful with that config tool when editing menus. I blindly started playing with it and ended up with a menu that didn't have an 'Exit' choice on it. Ctrl-Alt-Backspace got me out, of course. Follow the helpful hint to back-up ~/GNUstep before playing with the menus. -- Steve Philp sphilp@ameritech.net "The Internet is like crack for smart people" --Arsenio Hall - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

0.19.0 introduced PropList menus. You have the options of using the old style or the proplist style. IF you screw yourself up using WMPrefs and bork your menu, just reinstall by 'wmaker.inst' and choose to replace your menu. -- .###. /#######\## -==============================================- ;##### ;# Mike's WindowMaker ;##### ;# <A HREF="http://tasteslikechicken.ml.org/windowmaker.html"><A HREF="http://tasteslikechicken.ml.org/windowmaker.html</A">http://tasteslikechicken.ml.org/windowmaker.html</A</A>> \# /## -==============================================- ###'---'#### - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

I wouldn't rush out and upgrade to 0.19.2 if you're running 0.19.1. It's just a bugfix release, and so far I haven't run into any unexpected behaviour with 0.19.1. Jo Whitby wrote:

I managed to get the Configurator tool to "sort of" freeze up a few times. Looks like adding a new command, editing it for correctness, and then saving it after each new menu entry will (after a few entries) freeze up the command line entry box. I didn't attempt to nail this one down to a set of repeatable steps, but it was a bit frustrating. And, if you've got a long command line string, and it has to scroll left to display the end of it, hitting Backspace will focus the entrybox window way at the beginning of the command line instead of at the point you're editing. Counting characters in your head seems to work well! :^) Overall though, I continue to be addicted to WindowMaker. -- Steve Philp sphilp@ameritech.net "The Internet is like crack for smart people" --Arsenio Hall - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
Fortunately the releases come with a buglist and Changelog. I sometimes check 'em out to see if it's worth it to me to upgrade. If you really like WM you might want to join the list. They spend a good portion of the time sharing bugs that are discovered and shooting out patches...etc. Easier to stay informed on the development.
