[opensuse] Stuck in Yast software manager forever!!!!!
Okay, I guess its time to troubleshoot this some. I've had a situation on my desktop pc that with oS 11.3 when ever I install a package via yast, after the install completes it loops back around and I have to abort the install the next time around. Easy enough, so I've ignored it. But I just had a KDE crash. I told Dr. Kongi to install the debug rpm's. It seems to have done that at least once, but now it is apparently stuck in an infinite loop of doing the debug package installs. And when I try to abort, it does so, but just restarts the install again. It's been installing for a couple hours now. I imagine I could easily use ps to identify and kill the Dr. Kongi, but I'd rather see I can fix my config so this doesn't happen again. Any ideas? Saw exact same thing. If you abort that install you can then re-create your abend and submit a problem report, but I was never able to complete the submission with the original abend because of this loop. My Scenario was something like this: Something segfaults Dr Kongi says report will be useless, do you want to install debug pkg. You say Yes, it asks for root PW, you enter it Install starts. Install finishes Install starts again, and again, and again. No point in repeating it, because it is installing the same thing over and over. Break out of the loop with cancel. Log in as root and double check that the debug pkg did in fact install. (or course it did) Then, go back and re-create your segfault because by this time its gone from the screen and/or that instance does not seem to believe the debug packages are there anyway. Oh, and if anyone needs a reliable segfault to test with just install phonon-VLC and have any notification trigger a sound effect. -- _____________________________________ At one time I had a Real Sig. Yes, I have the same problem especially with GameStore, but also one I experienced it without GameStore. I filed a bugreport but they closed it saying they cannot reproduce. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

And for anyone else who can also provide the needed information, here's what is asked for: " Use /sbin/save_y2logs to generate yast2logs and attach the resulting file to the bug report. Now I am on 11.3. The bug in question was primarily observed on 11.2, now gamestore works well. I only once encountered this bug on 11.3. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I just added my y2logs. We'll see if that makes progress. fyi: I did figure out how to get Dr. Kongi use the installed debug pakage, but even after Dr. Kongi went away, I could not figure out the correct task to kill in order to stop the infinite loop. I ended up logging out / in. That is one of the bigger bugs I've had with 11.3.
