Untrue. I've got a USB-based DVD burner and it works fine with k3b. A bit slower than the built-in burner, but it absolutely works fine.

Sorry, that was a bit more blunt than I intended. What I intended was "that may have been your experience, but that's not a true blanket statement, because it works for me with a USB-connected drive".
