Just updated to KDE4.2. No problems, the update went as smooth as silk. No smoke from the computer so I guess everything *is* working as designed. And now to see what changes have been put through since 4.2RC1 and earlier..... Ciao. -- "I do not instruct the uninterested; I do not help those who fail to try. Ciao. Basil,
After you've got a day or two of real use under your belt, can you repost your status related to 4.2RC1 I tried the factory KDE version about a week or two ago. It was a disaster, so I backed out of it totally and I'm now back to official release plus online security updates. (Don't know if there have been any of those or not.) *IF* I remember :-) . However, with 2 systems working well with 4.2 Final it would seem that nothing has regressed (at least from my point of view re what I use oS for).

If you use the repos I mentioned in the earlier post(s) I think that you will find that you will get a very workable KDE4.2 - and even get to enjoy it! :-) Ciao. -- "I do not instruct the uninterested; I do not help those who fail to try. Roger, You've never been to a blue-crab-boil have you? 60 gallon steaming pot over a propane flame on the patio. 3 inches of water, the steam basket 2-dozen crabs fresh off the boats at Kema (late 80's). The shrimpers would give the crabs away just to get rid of them. Several dozen ears of corn, squash and potatoes. Season heavily with swamp-dust or swamp-fire, Steam for 45 minutes while enjoying a few coolies. Then you get to dissect the little critters. Flip them over pull the center shell section (shaped like a long narrow V) and then crack them apart. Going through the exercise a few dozen times, you get very familiar with the crustacean's anatomy. It's tight! -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Blues aren't bad eating, but Pacific indigenous crabs are THE BEST, second ONLY to King crab. 'Larger, more meat, and stronger flavor. Cannot comment on this because I detest screensavers (and screen blanking) and therefore haven't experienced any lockups.
