Try disabling acpi when you boot. Put this at the boot prompt: acpi=off Best regards :o) Johnny :o)

Try installing with "no acpi" option. Solved quite a few problems for members of this list. Alternatively, if already intalled, when grub loads type in "acpi=off" and carry on booting. LW999
