I've apparantly had another version of OpenOffice than the 1.9.125.1.2 i have now. At least I have some files saved in .odm format, whereas my current version calls them .odt. That wouldn't matter if it were able to read the odm files - but it can't :-( I've tried all possible filters. Unfortunately OOO doesn't tell me anything about why it won't read them; it just shows an empty document. I can see the contenct of the .odm files if I unzip them, so I know they aren't empty. My question is if there is a way to import the old documents into OpenOffice?

I had also the problem. that was a formt of very early OOo versions, very incomplete. I don't see any way to get them save re-installing the old version and saving as sxw may be opening the zip (any OOo file is a zip file) can save some stuff? these early version where said "very unstable" and they where :-( jdd -- pour m'écrire, aller sur: http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.net http://arvamip.free.fr

As I recall, ODM is a master document, which the current version handles. A master document would be used when creating a large document, such as a book.

I managed to save most of my work by unzipping the old .odm file in one place, a new .odt file in another. Then I moved content.xml and any image from old to new, zipped it up again and opened it in oowriter.
