[opensuse] OpenSUSE/Android connectivity?
Has anyone experience connecting an Android based smart phone to an OpenSUSE system? via USB? When I connect a Samsung Galaxy S there is no mention of the event in /var/log/messages which I find surprising. I have never come across a usb device that does not create an entry of some kind, even if it doesn't have a driver... What I should most like to do is see the Galaxy as another hard disk under OpenSUSE 11.3 (the alternative I may investigate is a solution with WiFi using nfs or cifs). Watch the phone when you plug it in. Most of these phones ask you on their screen what to do, and give you choices. You have to select the choice to just act as a usb device. I have Samsung Galaxy S (Android 2.2, but in same way it worked with 2.1) and openSUSE 11.3 with KDE. When I plug the phone using USB, phone asks what should it do (connect as USB mass storage device, ...), I go to home screen and then menu, wireless networks, share network over USB, check, done (sorry, I do not use English version of phone's menu). Wait 5 seconds and I'm on-line. Well, now, I'm on-line in this way. :-) There was no need for any configuration in my openSUSE.
