For some time I've had a problem closing X on my system. Whenever I close X (whether from the pulldown menu item "close FVWM2 and X" or with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace), X shuts down, but leaves me with a frozen screen

I get this occasionally but have found that pressing Ctrl-C gets the prompt back again.
