Installing leap 15.3 from ISO image downloaded today and burned to DVD. Downloaded from opensuse default site/ Several errors during actual install, not preparation. The first few were related to curl, suggesting the download site for repository was not reachable. These I skipped after several retries. The more concerning ones were of this nature: "Subprocess failed. Error:RPM failed:error:%prein(login_defs-4.81-2.43.noarch) scriptlet failed, exit status 127 error: login_defs-4.81-2.43.noarch:install failed" This is the one I am staring at now, there were several others all RPM related, soe mentioning other packages such as perl. Ignoring gives a warning about ignoring packages and later verifying system. The install would continue until the next one. After perhaps a dozen of these all different packages some of which seemed critical to a working system, I gave it up. This is not confidence inspiring. Does this suggest bad download image or some other issue? joe a.

Indeed, the first thing to do is check the download image. As you burned to DVD, also check the DVD: there should be a boot option to do just that. https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Download_help -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.3 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Maybe. You should checksum the validity of the iso and the burn. IIRC there may be a verification choice presented at the start of the DVD. There have been a few glitches with repo mirrors of late, so that could have been a problem; just retry the install to test. Or when given the option of enabling the online repo's during the install, don't take that, i.e., install entirely with DVD only and then after install do an online update with YaST or zypper. HTH,
Thanks to all responders. After confirming my download was good and the DVD was good (as far as image integrity), I did successfully install after not enabling online repo's. I also did format the existing partition, which I did not see as an option first time through. It was likely the online repo's. After install I did the software manager update thing. Certainly were a lot of them. joe a.

The default is formatting. Or create new partition, which includes formatting.
