I'm trying to compile Mplayer with gui support and getting error at the end where it says I'm missing libpng and libpng-dev but rpm -qa shows it is installed. I'm running 8.1. Anybody can offer help as to what should I do. It says nothing about it.

Check "configure.log" if you do not understand why it failed.
And what does configure.log say? Should be a error message at the end describing a missing header, library or some such.

Which version of MPlayer are you trying to build? I have 1.0pre2 which I
compiled fairly recently, and that contains this check in the log:

I'm trying same version, MPlayer-1.0pre2. Have the
same check in the log file but it fails anyway.

You are missing zlib-devel. Charles -- I did this 'cause Linux gives me a woody. It doesn't generate revenue. (Dave '-ddt->` Taylor, announcing DOOM for Linux)
Yes, you're right, moreover gtk-dev was missing too
(somebody mentioned that error in response to my
email), once I installed it everything went ok.
Thx, Martin

Look in the configure.log file and find the error. Post it here and someone will probably be able to point you in the right direction. --

Perhaps it's related, when I try to build the current Mplayer on 9.0 with the -enable-gui flag, I'm told that it can't find GTK, even though gtk and gtk-devel are installed. -- JAY VOLLMER JVOLLMER@CONSOLIDATEDLINT.COM TEXT REFS DOUBLEPLUSUNGOOD SELFTHINK VERGING CRIMETHINK IGNORE FULLWISE
