[opensuse] Tux Radar - State of Linux Distros in 2000
http://www.tuxradar.com/content/archives-best-distros-2000 This is an interesting read.. I only put it here, since SuSE (spelling based on article) is mentioned and discussed. One of the interesting things I liked from the article, which still rings true to me is the discussion of YaST. -- kai www.perfectreign.com || www.filesite.org bis zum bitteren Ende -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I remember all the discussions on the list about Yast and Yast2. How Yast2 wasn't anywhere as good. Then later when Yast1 was officially dropped, I guess all the commotion died. Thanks for the link. Might have to dig out my old CD's and try an install again. Funny, speaking of linux just-barely-old history, just last night I went looking around to see whatever happened to Stampede Linux, which I was very into fo ra while. Even wrote a fake-fs module for midnight commander that let you browse the contents of .slp packages just like tars and rpms. Alas...no, nothing ever did happen after about 2002 when development halted. There is still a #stampede channel registered on freenode with no one in it, and the web page is up. -- Brian K. Wasn't that a Canadian distro? I remember something about it. I might be thinking of another one though..
