Excuse moi for asking, but which version of oS are you running because 12.1 (?and earlier) uses Okular for pdf files? And I don't have problems with Okular.
it's only the firefox plugin for aroread that have problem.
Before I wrote above, I went looking for this plugin and it certainly is not something which Mozilla has as either an extension or a plugin. So it has to be something which comes with openSUSE and, in fact, there is an acroread rpm listed in Software Manager. And there is a proviso against it as I quoted in my earlier response.

there *is* an acrobat plugin (I didn't think of it and just desactivated it), and it's installed also when installing acroread from adobe sources. I need acrobat reader because ocular don't print well any pdf jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Ooow, in what way doesn't it print "well any pdf"? I just printed off 2 pdf files to be sure and they printed perfectly using okular. Just for the background: I opened Dolphin, selected the files and opened each with okular and then printed each using okular. The only time I've bumped into issues with recent versions of Okular and PDFs is with the complex PDFs filled with loads of form silliness... but those are close to impossible to print properly from any viewer. Regular PDFs and standard HybridPDFs (the ones with embedded ODF source documents) print fine every time from Okular. Generated PDFs from online ticketing services that I use (eg train and flight tickets) also print 100% using Okular. It used to be with older versions of Okular that there were print issues... I'm talking a long time back though. Now? I work with PDF a lot and never saw any need/reason not to use Okular. Could you elaborate about "loads of form silliness"? One of the pdf I printed was in fact a form so would like to understand what you mean by "silliness" :-) . I've come across a few PDF forms that were more like standalone applications with loads of complex form fields (selection boxes etc) and massive illustrations... PDFs that were 45MB or more for 2 pages of content. Or.. 20 plus pages with nested subforms... with interactive dynamic content... Those ones. They don't print well from any viewer since they are not designed to be printed in the first place... which is funny since that is ultimately the goal of PDF in the first place. I see. Fortunately I don't have much need for such form-type pdfs but if I do come across one I shall avoid it like the plague :-) . BC -- Aspire to inspire before you expire. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have okular as default reader, so I only lanch acroread when I can't print, and it's pretty often. Last time it was a document more large than hight that was not printed entirely ("mode paysage" in french) I nearly always had problem printing with okular, and usually when I do this I'm in a hurry and don't have time to report bugs :-( jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

The above is interesting, Johannes. Is there similar info concerning kwrite (in 12.1 with KDE 4.8)? kwrite has now decided not to do any printing on my HP 8450 Photosmart even though I have downloaded, and installed, the latest driver from HP yesterday/day before (covered in the thread Now Cannot Print). Thank you. BC -- Aspire to inspire before you expire. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Regarding printing from kwrite I only know about https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=732192 In case of doubt file new bugs for issues which are new for you. Regarding "How to Report a Printing Issue" see http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:How_to_Report_a_Printing_Issue in particular "If printing from an application program fails".
