Hi! Can somebody please help me with how I can set up my F-Secure SSH client to do a remote xterm to run a linux app on my X server on Windows? I have X-Win32, but I guess the server doesn't matter much in how to do it.. Anders Norrbring Norrbring Consulting

I can't help with that specific ssh server, but the general rule is to get your Xwin32 running and then launch the ssh session. With other ssh clients you have to set a checkbox to tell it to tunnel X11 connections for you. I use www.ssh.com 's free ssh client and there is a specific checkbox of this under tunneling. Under the free Putty.exe there is also a tunneling option and a checkbox for x11 tunnels. (version 0.53b). Once you set these, they will create the xauth files for you on the remote host and any windows you then create will just automatically appear as long as your Xwin32 is set up to accept them. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
Hiya! I'm trying to get everything right for a backup device connected to the parallel port. I've looked at http://www.torque.net/parport/paride.html for info, and there are lots. But not what I need (I think..) The devices mentioned there seems to only deal with Travan TR-1-2-3 drives (QIC-113) and not the TR-4-5-7 (QIC-157) drives. Unfortunately I'm not at all familiar with the inner workings of these, so I can't really tell what modules like epat, bpck, kbic, pt and pd really do... With that follows of course that I don't know what module I should use for my drive. Can somebody please help me out here? Anders Norrbring

Anders,
I also saw you are running arkeia.
I can't help with your issue, but FYI I do the following:
Windows 2000 PC
cygwin (posix emulation layer)
XFree86 (included with cygwin)
KDE for cygwin/XFree86
Start KDE
open local xterm
DISPLAY=
