k3b seems to trash modem

I had been online for 25.x hours w/o any problem, then I used k3b as something was downloading. The modem lost its connection every 1-3 minutes & redialed during the entire burn process. Once I was finished burning that same behaviour continued until rebooting, then it stopped & I have been online now for roughly 14 hours. What gives?? -- ...CH SuSE 9 Works Linux user# 313696 Linux box# 199365

Let me guess: internal (win)modem? Greetings from Bremen hartmut

Not really. Other than toggling the "desktop" boot parameter in your boot laoder config (take it out if it's there, put it in if it's not there). Could be an ACPI issue as well. Greetings from Bremen hartmut

Greetings from Bremen hartmut Thanks. I'll give the desktop toggle a try. As for ACPI, box won't boot in failsafe or when I specify ACPI=off. -- ...CH SuSE 9 Works Linux user# 313696 Linux box# 199365

"acpi=off" isn't the only option that you could use: http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2002/10/81_acpi.html Greetings from Bremen hartmut
