Now it's important to know, which part causes this. I hope that it is in fact the NetApp disk array or electronic of the disk bays. If it is, I have to find some other hardware. Anyone got tips (FC 4G, redundant storage controllers and redundant power supplies, 14+ SATA-drives)?
I now got another device. If anyone is familiar with it or this techniqe, I would appreciate help. It's a EMC2 CLARiiON KTN-STL4. 4G FC. Problem I saw after delivery: it has HSSDC2 jacks. -Will it work with HSSDC2 - SFP copper cables? or are there other adapters, preferrably with LC jacks - as I have lots of optic cables? or any other tips? Or does it even only work with other EMC equipment?

thank you very much for the link. I think I read it when I purchased the enclosure (which btw costs like nothing.. but the cables do (these are on the way)). Unfortunately the thread is inconclusive. Most mention you need EMC server and dedicated os-hdds. But 2 people say, it did work for them without. I hope they are correct. One says, you have to configure using multipath. There is a detailed documentation, https://documentation.suse.com/sles/12-SP4/html/SLES-all/cha-multipath.html I hope it does apply for Leap 15.1, too. I am curious

You cannot connect optic to copper.
or any other tips? Or does it even only work with other EMC equipment?
It certainly was never intended to be used outside of CLARiiON.

It is not "server". It is CLARiiON storage array. What you have is just extension shelf for this array.

Multipath has nothing to do with getting access to disks in DAE. It provides redundancy and fault tolerance, but it won't by itself magically make disks visible. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
