Two questions:
1) Has somebody already installed a beta of 'icq' and is a rpm file already available?
There's "nothing to it" ... just download the java client, edit the 'install' file to point to the java directory, then run 'install' and then run 'ICQ'. If you're not sure what the path is to the java dirs, just do a 'which java' on the command line in an xterm.Plug that dir into the 'install' script. BTW .. I did some work for Mirabilis' backbone provider and they were under constant attack from ping floods and other mischief, so they don't have a reliable system. As much as I find AOL a complete irritant, I've found the AOL Messenger java client and their Instant Messenger Service much better. Their client is simple to install as well. It is kind of weird to see the AOL logo running an app under Linux ... as much as they have been maligned as the whore of babylon and the worst excuse for a national ISP, they at least have cross platform apps. Simply amazing ... and their client runs under Solaris too ... (ICQ does also) ... -tks- -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
