In openSUSE 15.1, memtest, as installed, would not work with UEFI. Has this been fixed in 15.2? There is a version on the memtest website that will work with it. tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I use memtest86 for UEFI systems: menuentry "memtest86 8.3 EFI" { search --no-floppy --label --set=root P01ESP chainloader /mt83x64.efi } https://www.memtest86.com/ -- Evolution as taught in public schools is religion, not science. I have it installed on a USB stick and that works. However, I have always installed it, so that it was available in the boot menu. This isn't critical, but it would be nice, as more and more computers use UEFI. Where is that menuentry found? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I just recently grabbed the 15.4 rc/beta (?) iso from end of april 2022 and created the bootable usb stick to boot from. My newer test system kind of only boots the uefi boot variant of this usb stick then, but I dont see any memtest entries in the available boot options there, in contrast to previous versions such as 15.3 and earlier. Although those older attempts back years ago probably were like on non-uefi systems. Is memtest86plus not really available for or on uefi systems? is there something about uefi firmware booting the memtest86plus image or something? also I found on the memtest.org page of the project that there is memtest86+ in version 6.00 preview just as of recently some days ago, and they offered various iso files and I could put them on a multiboot usb stick (windows world: yumi multiboot creator software, <https://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/> ) and it placed the mere tiny .iso images of the memtest86+ (6.0) in a special folder on the multiboot usb stick and I was able to boot into happily working memtest86+ 6.0 on the uefi hardware. will uefi boot of memtest 5.x or 6.x come to opensuse leap? is memtest86+ not included on the uefi boot variant of the leap 15.4 iso (via usb stick)? ty

I do not see any UEFI support in memtest86+ v5.x. UEFI boot seems to be supported in PCMemTest which is not included in openSUSE (and it has different features even if it is based on memtest86+). v6 has just appeared several days ago and you have seen warning on their page. And please use the correct name for the software which is Memtest86+ (not "memtest" or "memtest86") to avoid confusion.

sorry of having offended you, i shortened that stuff, I was only speaking about this thread memtest86+, also named memtest.org due to their domain name of the project or memtest86plus due to their github name.

I think I read somwhere about people booting that 5.0x memtest86+ at least in some ways even on modern machines. gentoo linux speaks about uefi and memtest86+ 5.x and beyond. <https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Memtest86%2B> was wondering what the state of memtest86+ was with opensuse. ty

and later they provide link to the documentation for memtset86 which is entirely different software. I suspect someone just mixed up these versions.
was wondering what the state of memtest86+ was with opensuse.
It includes the latest available version 5.31b. I assume once v6.x is stabilized openSUSE package will be updated.
Only for informaton: i downloaded a week in past from https://www.system-rescue.org "systemrescue-9.02 for amd64" releasedate 2022-04-09 on it is memtest86+ 5.31b-1 and i have not found a entry for mentest86+ when booting with uefi. normal booting it was there. simoN -- www.becherer.de
Hello, feel free to request it for 15.5 at https://code.opensuse.org/leap/features/issues And give us some usecases, where you see this could significantly improve user experience. I can check how it used to be in the "old releases". Lubos On Mon, 2022-05-09 at 10:55 +0200, cagsm wrote:

what is the bug report number you filed? That is where one would look for the answer. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
