[opensuse] Netflix on opeSUSE
A simple question. My son has a Netflix subscription used on his W7 box. I understand that Netflix can be shared to other devices. Is there a way to share it to my openSUSE box ? it's just a website - go to netflix.com and login Peter -- "I like flaws and feel more comfortable around people who have them. Streaming? In a VM only. There are some who have hacked a version of WINE on Ubuntu to be able to run it, but Netflix streaming uses Silverlight+DRM, so you have to have Windows or OSX to run it. Jim Thanks, that what a bit of googling had led me to think. I have a Linuxmint VM I may try it there. Mike -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I should also have added that at every opportunity, hit Netflix on the need to support Linux. Amazon Prime streaming works on Linux just fine, and Netflix runs on Android and ChromeOS - so it's not like they haven't done the bulk of the work that needs to be done to get it to work. How do you get Prime streaming to work? It tells me I need to upgrade Flash Player in both Opera and Firefox. I have version 11.2.202.285-116.1. OpenSuse 12.1 (though I've had the same problem with 11.4 and 12.2). I heard someplace that Flash was not being upgraded for Linux. So if you can tell me what I need to do to get Prime streaming to work, I'd be grateful. I run it in Chrome, works just fine there. Jim -- Jim Henderson Please keep on-topic replies on the list so everyone benefits -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

When I tried Chrome, I get a pop-up telling me it won't play and referring me to an Amazon help page which says: The Flash Player Plugin in Chrome removed support for Digital Rights Management (DRM) in Linux as part of the upgrade from 11.3 to 11.4. This upgrade was bundled with the latest Chrome 22 update for Linux. If you applied the Chrome update, you are no longer able to watch DRM-protected content, such as movies and TV episodes. Trailers are unaffected as they do not use DRM. To get around this issue, you can use a different browser, such as Firefox. For information on Chrome and the Flash Player plug-in, see: https://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=108086. This is confirmed on the "know issues" note on the Chrome help page about Flash. So mine is different from yours, somehow. Thanks for the suggestion, though. Very strange. I watched a movie on it a few weeks ago and didn't have any problems at all, but I've had new chrome updates since then, so maybe they broke it as well, which is disappointing. Point taken, for now I have it running through an old Wii we had lying about (hardly a Linux solution I know) Mike -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I've been running it on our PS3 and in a Windows XP VM that I purpose- built for watching Netflix on my machine.
