Problems with Samba, CUPS and WinXP
Hello! I have Samba setup on a server (talen) and CUPS on another server (cups) My Linux network prints gladly on "cups" No problemo! But my WinXP does not... BIG problemo! Also, the XP doesnt detect talen on the network. The smb.conf file is as follows: [global] load printers = yes netbios name = TALEN printing = cups server string = SuSE Linux Server logon script = logon.cmd local master = No logon drive = H: workgroup = RIKJOH.COM logon path = \\%N\profiles\%u os level = 33 domain master = No encrypt passwords = Yes preferred master = No domain logons = Yes [printers] printer = lpr browseable = no comment = All Printer printable = yes path = /var/spool/cups [netlogon] path = /etc/samba/netlogon comment = "The Netlogon share (System share)" write list = ntadmin [profiles] path = /etc/samba/profiles comment = "Profiles share (System share)" read only = No create mask = 0600 directory mask = 0700 [pictures] path = /mnt/digitalcam comment = "Digitalkamera bilder" read only = no create mask = 0644 directory mask = 0777 [musik] path = /extra/hdc/Media/Mp3 comment = "Multimedia filer" read only = yes [Lj4] printer = lpr comment = HP LaserJet 4L printable = yes path = /var/spool/cups But the XP complains about not being able to connect to the printer... And also it doesnt detect the server unless serached for. The user on the XP is logging in to XP without password, so the shares are mapped under another username/password. I couldnt get the XP and Sambaserver to talk unless i did that. I couldnt sync the userdatabase. What do i need to change to make the XP able to see the server and printer? -- /Rikard ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rikard Johnels email : rikjoh@norweb.se Web : http://www.rikjoh.com Mob : +46 70 464 99 39 ------------------------ Public PGP fingerprint ---------------------------- < 15 28 DF 78 67 98 B2 16 1F D3 FD C5 59 D4 B6 78 46 1C EE 56 >
