A few pointers worth having in mind when updating to KDE2.2ß1
Hi list, here are a few pointers: For ssl to work in konqueror: $ su # cd /usr/lib # ln -s libssl.so.0 libssl.so # ln -s libcrypto.so.0 libcrypto.so # ldconfig If you DONT use the same language at runtime as you selected at install, you change three occurances in /etc/SuSEconfig/profile. If you have problems with your desktop, fonts or other "strange happenings", try: log out of kde, and change to console $ cd $ mkdir KEEP $ mv .kde* KDesktop KEEP $ cd /tmp $ su # find . -user yourusername -ls -exec rm -fr {} \; # exit log into kde again. You may have to manually copy your kmailrc, bookmarks.xml and other stuff from KEEP/.kde2 to your new .kde2 - DONT COPY EVERYTHING ! If kdm is giving you the blues, use ( as root ) startx mwm ( or other simple wm of your choice ) and manually start /opt/kde2/bin/kcontrol. Reconfigure it to suite your needs, and apply. It will save/create a new config file in /opt/kde2/share/config/kdm/ Enjoy :-) -tosi
