Does anyone have a suggestion for the above referenced machine, that installs without any hassle, special drivers, or anything else, to SuSE 9.3? It should be low cost, hopefully. I don't want to look for repositories, special RPMs, I want the system to recognize and install it, period. I have had it with things that are supposed to work, but don't. HP is the way to go for this. Their Linux support is outstanding and the functionality is very close to "that other OS". You simply do not have to worry, whether it will work. But: Be sure to have a detailed look at the "supported models" list, BEFORE you buy, though. http://hplip.sourceforge.net/supported_devices/index.html Furthermore, as you are still on SuSE 9.3, most probably, you will have to do a manual installation. http://hplip.sourceforge.net/install/index.html Imho, this is as close as you will get in regard to... ..."I don't want to look for repositories, special RPMs, I want the system to recognize and install it, period." Kind regards Eberhard I was told several months ago that hplip does not work with systems below 10.0. Is this true or not? And if not true, how can I determine what value of hplip might be on the machine, if any?

But isn't it more important to keep in mind that v9.3 is no longer supported by Novell? (Wasn't there a message about this from Marcus a few weeks ago?) Rather than keep fooling around with v9.3 I think it would be prudent to install v10.3 (considering that v11.0 is "just around the corner").
