[opensuse] How do I blacklist modules for the onboard audio card?
With every boot the onboard audio card interferes with the PCI Soundblaster card. I think the problem is caused by the modules being loaded for the onboard audio card at each boot. How do I blacklist these modules in openSUSE? -- Regards, Aniruddha Please adhere to the OpenSUSE_mailing_list_netiquette http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_mailing_list_netiquette -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist Now I am curious. Is the on-board audio disabled in the bios? If so, would the module still get loaded?

The soundcard is disabled in the bios, but at every boot gets selected as the default soundcard and is thus muted :S No matter what I try I can't get sound working, I have blacklisted the snd_via82xx driver to no avail :( # lsmod | grep snd_via82 snd_via82xx_modem 33420 0 snd_ac97_codec 130248 2 snd_via82xx_modem,snd_ca0106 snd_pcm 108680 5 snd_pcm_oss,snd_via82xx_modem,snd_ca0106,snd_ac9 7_codec snd 84984 15 snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_seq, snd_via82xx_modem,snd_ca0106,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm,s nd_timer snd_page_alloc 28048 3 snd_via82xx_modem,snd_ca0106,snd_pcm -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
This file is deprecated, you should use /etc/modprobe.conf.local instead.
Now I am curious. Is the on-board audio disabled in the bios? If so, would the module still get loaded?

Even if a module is blacklisted, it can be loaded manually or by a script, like the alsa startup script. Check if the internal card doesn't show in the yast sound configuration. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Do you see something I don't? It isn't there. Perhaps you also need to blacklist snd_via82xx_modem, which of course is different than snd_via82xx. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 running openSUSE 10.3 x86_64 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
