Configuration sound chip AD1885
Hi does have somebody already configured SuSE Linux 7.3 for the sound chip Analog Device AD1885 ? I'm the happy owner of a Dell Dimension 8200 with the following configuration : P4 1.8 Ghz, 512 Mhz Suse Linux 7.3 (kernel 2.4.10 Xfree 4.0.?) The configuration page of Dell say that the sound chip is an Analog Device AD1885 AC97 Codec The command "lspci -vv" give 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82820 820 (Camino 2) Chipset AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 04) Subsystem: Dell Computer Corporation: Unknown device 010c Control: I/O+ Mem- BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap- 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Latency: 0 Interrupt: pin B routed to IRQ 10 Region 0: I/O ports at d800 [size=256] Region 1: I/O ports at dc40 [size=64] unfortunately, I've not been able to configure the sound for this machine. I've tried alsaconf, which said that it has detected a sound chip (the same as above), i've set the volume to the maximun but I can't hear anything... I've also tried to load manually the module i810, but this only return some error messages like euler:/home/azubi/ # modprobe i810 /lib/modules/2.4.10-4GB/kernel/drivers/char/drm/i810.o: init_module: Cannot allocate memory Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters /lib/modules/2.4.10-4GB/kernel/drivers/char/drm/i810.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.10-4GB/kernel/drivers/char/drm/i810.o failed /lib/modules/2.4.10-4GB/kernel/drivers/char/drm/i810.o: insmod i810 failed The modules I've loaded yet are : Module Size Used by ac97 2912 0 (autoclean) (unused) nfsd 64880 4 (autoclean) parport_pc 19280 1 (autoclean) lp 5248 0 (autoclean) parport 22240 1 (autoclean) [parport_pc lp] af_packet 11552 1 (autoclean) ipv6 124736 -1 (autoclean) evdev 4160 0 (unused) input 3072 0 [evdev] uhci 22400 0 (unused) usbcore 47264 1 [uhci] 3c59x 24864 1 (autoclean) ide-scsi 7552 0 If somebody has a idea..... thanks in advance for your help claude P.S.
