Is anyone else using Kopete and AIM? Mine hasn't been able to log in for a few days now. I thought maybe it was an ISP problem but it also doesn't work from the office. Just wondering if AIM changed something to break Kopete. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871

Wouldn't be surprised! AOL often changes their protocol around and then sends a fix out to the official clients. I've had issues with Trillian in the past as well. As for Kopete, I'm running kdenetwork3-InstantMesssenger 3.5.1-32.10@586 and cannot connect. I was fine last week. It just says, "connecting" in the status bar. I only have an AIM account setup so I don't know if Y! or MSN are working. -- kai ponte www.perfectreign.com

I don't know if AIM has changed their protocol again. I use gaim v.1.5.0and I can sign-in in my account just fine. No problems whatsoever... I don't use Kopete as much though. I tried signing in with Kopete just to be sure. But I don't know..whenever I right-click on the AIM sign at the bottom right corner (which is used to connect to AIM)...I get an option to modify the status. I select online, and the icon instantly turns blue (which means that its connected). But then, I can't see any users in the list. Not even the Shopping Buddy thing. -- Using Kopete 0.10.3 on KDE 3.4.2 Level 'b' SuSE 10.0. Regards, Amit. -- http://mckagan.googlepages.com

I'm chatting right now with one of my staff members over AOL on Kopete. I'm still listed as offline, but the chat is working well. We're discussing the future of SUSE / Microsoft. :P -- kai ponte www.perfectreign.com

Well I just had SMART install GAIM. That seems to work just fine. I actually forgot about the OTR function, which I'll go ahead and use. I wonder if that news conference today had anything to do with this... -- kai ponte www.perfectreign.com

ICQ changed the login protocol, we are preparing a YOU with a fixed version of kdenetwork3-InstantMessenger.rpm. Will

Heh! I didn't mean that as a slight. I just am using AIM protocol the most, so I went ahead and installed GAIM. Kopete is still my favorite. It even is better than Trillian (which I paid for a few years back).

Sweet. I'll look forward to the update coming to a SMART source near me. :) -- kai ponte www.perfectreign.com
