BUT, linux times out trying to connect ppp0 to /dev/pts/1 or 2.
What is pts? None are shown in /dev.
Which is likely the problem. My /dev/pts shows <p>crw------- 1 root tty 136, 0 Nov 24 07:21 0 crw--w---- 1 zentena tty 136, 1 Nov 24 07:21 1 I think pts is totally related to pppoe. The 136 sounds familar. Nick

I found mine also; I didn't notice that pts was a subdirectory. Although I don't have a "c" in front, hovering the pointer over 0 and 2 indicates that they are Character Devices. <p>I have 0 -rw--w---- ed tty 0 20:26 23.11.2000 and 2 -rw------- root tty 0 20:24 23.11.2000 <p>So, it is your opinion that timing out is the first problem that I have. Maybe, a protocol problem with Verizon also?
