good day all ...
here is the system: micron xku/suse5.1/3com905 vortex.
i cannot get networking to work even though it looks like it should be. i configure appropriate ipaddr/netmask/gateway during the install. when i cat /proc/net/dev i get appropriate entries for the loopback interface, but where eth0 shold be there is an entry for dummy0 with no statistics available.
during boot (and if i try to start networking by hand) these messages get logged:
Starting up network device eth0. SIOCSIFADDR: no such device SIOCSIFBRDADDR: no such device SIOCDIFNETMASK: no such device.
i must have made a mistake somewhere during the install. could some kind soul tell me how to fix this one? thanks in advance!
Looks like you may not have the device driver for the vortex loaded. If you know that it is then you need to find out what version it is; you might need to upgrade the device driver. Some people have reported problems with the vortex and boomerang network cards. -- Andrew L.
