Hi, I have installed 6.3 linux with kernel version 2.2.13 on my m/c. which is a Intel 810 integrated chipset (with AGP and AC 97 "AD 1881" soundcard). The Alsa version shipped with 6.3 CD does not work for this sound card. I think Alsa 0.5.7 works for this card. But Alsa 0.5.7 is compatible with 2.2.14 kernel, whereas mine is 2.2.13. Will alsa 0.5.7 rpm be available for Suse 6.3 kernel 2.2.13?? Raghav I am pretty sure you can use a 2.2.4 kernel with 6.3. As a matter of fact, I believe I was doning just that. If you've never compiled a kernel, it sounds like it's time to learn. Yes there are a bizillion options, but the SuSE book is a pretty good place to get a general idea of what to do. I don't know whether this'll help with your Alsa problems, but the SuSE kernel can be found here: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/evaluation-6.4/full-names/i386/lx_suse-2.2.14.SuSE-12.i386.rpm If you want the 'official' 2.2.14 kernel, and not the modified SuSE kernel, you should be able to find it on ftp.<your country code>.kernel.org.
