RE: [SLE] Recompiled 2.4.0 - It Runs - No IPCHAINS
Hi "netfilter" is ment to be far superior to ipchains - it uses 'iptables' instead. There was meant to be full bakwards compatability so 'ipchains' commands should still work. Perhaps there is an option for 'ipchains compatibility' that you need to recompile with. I havnt upgraded to 2.4 cos i'm too busy at the mo, so I'm not 100% sure if there's and easy round this (i.e. without you having to rewrite your firewall script). Please let me know how you get on! Hope this helps, Andrew :o) -----Original Message----- From: Ed Harrison [SMTP:ED.TMAN@verizon.net] Sent: 09 January 2001 05:21 To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] Recompiled 2.4.0 - It Runs - No IPCHAINS Evidently IPCHAINS has been replaced with "netfilter". I depended on pmfirewall for security, but all I get are errors to try "ipchains -h". I have DSL connection and feel I must have a firewall. Any ideas?
